Our Best trip together

Soulitude is a real heaven on earth! This is a very late review but i had to!
If you are looking for a place to be surrounded by nature and spend time with your soulmate there would be no other place! The staff, especially the manager, Mr Prithvi Raj, made our stay just perfect. Prithvi ji suggested us the itineries, to do things and even must try local food. Since we were self driving we explored nearby places like bhimtal, sattal, mukteshwar which are half day trips! Its a cozy place to stay with all rooms of different themes, homemade food and staff paying attention to your tiniest demand. All around the place you will find tiny little somethings, unique in their own way and different from the other thing. They make the best hand beaten coffee!!

Just perfect for us!

A beautifully-designed hotel in a stunning situation with distant Himalayan views, we really loved our stay in the “Secret Garden”. Every aspect of this hotel was just perfect for us. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable, with lots of interesting features. In fact, we did a walk around the hotel pointing to things we particularly liked (eg natural wood, tiling). Soup served beside the fire outside, under a full moon, was particularly magical. The barbeque was also great. Without exception, the staff were all really friendly and helpful to us, the only non-Indians there. They organised a lovely walk on one day and then, to our surprise, invited us to their twin hotel Soulitude by the River. The manager there welcomed us, showed us around and also took us for a beautiful walk. Again, quite magical. We fell in love with this beautifully-designed and characterful property and would dearly love to return and stay there. I have only praise for these two hotels. Thank you.

We zeroed on this property based on trip advisor reviews and as usual, the reviews were fully justified. If there is a boutique resort that lives fully to its name, it’s Soulitude. It definitely has a living, breathing soul that is full of joie de vivre. Meticulously built and aesthetically decorated with loving care by its owners, it is so full of delightful knick-knacks.

It is a small property with only 10 rooms, each named appropriately. We stayed at Nirvana that is a gorgeous suite with huge floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a skylight to enjoy the starry sky at night.

It is commendable that the people who man the resort are as lovable and caring. It feels more like a homestay and not a resort. The food is homely too and the chef is happy to accommodate your personal favourites.

We celebrated our daughter’s birthday and weren’t sure if they would be arrange a cake in the remote location. But, not only did they bake a cake but also put together a nice balloon-decorated birthday party, a nice surprise for the daughter.

We went on a lovely trek with Bhanuji who was kind to our city-feet. It was lovely weather, greenery, blue sky with zero pollution. After a long time, we enjoyed a fiercely competitive game of Scrabble.

We also made a day trip to Soulitude by Riverside but that is the subject of another review.
All-in-all, an excellent stay. We shall visit again!

Solitude in Soulitude

To begin with, the property was enchanting. We went at the end of September and it turned out that it was not the best time to get a glimpse of the mighty mountains.
However, we were in for some luck on one out of our two days of stay.

First of all, the staff was very patient and friendly. Even before we made our bookings, we spoke to the staff. They have an answer for every question! They called us to give more information on what to pack, weather conditions, how to reach etc. The day we checked in, the staff was waiting for us at the entrance to the resort to receive us and welcome us. I felt like a queen. We booked Nirvana, which is the very first cottage as you enter the resort. It is at the highest elevation in the property from where you can see the main house, other cottages, the common deck and the valley. While this means that you are a bit far from the main house and the dining room, it is a very good exercise going up and down the steep. When we requested our kid’s food to be cooked in a particular way, they readily got it done. Mr. Prithvi and Mr. Bhanu Pratap were always available to help us. They patiently offered insurmountable guidance to various guests on places to visit, often providing them with route maps to the nearby places, ideas on what to do etc. We couldn’t accommodate trekking on our agenda since we were travelling with a soon-to-be 4yr old, but a few guests we chatted with suggested some wonderful places to visit — Mukteshwar being one of the popular destinations.

Coming to the highlight of the trip. The mountains. Oh, speechless. We just couldn’t get enough of them. Unable to contain our anxiety, we woke up while it was still dark. It was our lucky day. The mist lifted early and we saw the outline of Trishul and Nandadevi. Just at sunrise, the trishul turned orange for a few minutes and left us dumbstruck. We sat looking at the mountains with out realising the time. A captivating view of the white mountains is beyond words. We could see the mountains until 2 pm when clouds began to form blocking the view to trishul, but nandadevi remained visible for a while. The next day too we woke up expecting another treat to our eyes, but too much of mist brought only disappointment. So, we had to be content with what we saw the previous day. Most reviews said that the best time to view the mountains is only after September. The staff too said the same thing.

Again, a big thank you to the whole team at Soulitude for making our stay a memorable one. Can I give you 10/5 stars?

We stayed at Soulitude in the Himalayas for 3 nights. After an initial hiccup with our room, Bhanuji – the manager was quick to respond and change our room.

After this, it was a very smooth and comfortable stay here. The rooms are nicely done up, makes you feel at home. They’re spacious and have common decks with great views of the valley. Unfortunately at this time of the year you may not see the Himalayan range but we managed to get a glimpse of just the top peaks on our last day.

The staff is prompt and helpful and always available for all your needs. I must give a big thank you to the two team members [i forgot their names] who served us meals and also took care of the housekeeping. Very warm and friendly.

The property also has a good tie up with local cab vendors. They will help you arrange for local sightseeing. We had taken the cab from Madhusudan. Apart from being a good driver he also took us to some lesser crowded and lesser commercials places.

They have a buffet for lunch and dinner, the menu for the same are shared with you in advance so you can give your feedback as well. You may also order a la carte snacks menu in case you want to have a small bite. The food is good.

In the evenings they have a bonfire set and guests can sit out in the open and have their meals. They don’t have an operational bar so guests can carry their own alcohol. Kindly get your alcohol from your destination as getting alcohol around is difficult and getting the brand that you may like will be a bigger challenge.

Bhanuji is also very helpful with guiding you about the places to visit. Each day he gave us a hand drawn map of the places we were planning to visit – Nainital / Sattal and around. It was very helpful. He also recommended places to shop / eat.

Soulitude is a great option for people who would like a have a comfortable vacation with great service and good food. It’s located centrally so you can keep this as your base and visit Nainital, Bhimtal, Sattal, Naukuchiyatal and probably even Mukteshwar.

I would recommend staying at least 3 nights here to cover the above places. All in all a great location and a comfortable stay.

The decor at Soulitude is breathtaking. So many artifacts and all so appropriately chosen to reflect a mountain get away.
We stayed at Nirvana. It’s the best room at Soulitude for sure. Spacious for four of us couple with two teenage kids.
However there’s some construction activity going on at the adjacent plot to the cottage which can get noisy. In addition the generator is also near the cottage which again is on quite a bit and makes noise.
Excellent views. Also loved the sky visible roofs at places.

Food is excellent. Though price of 750 per head for dinner is a bit steep.

Wifi connectivity is poor.

Coming to the staff which is just so warm, courteous and helpful and the real stars of this place. Led by the ever available Mr Prithavi and his team. God Bless you all.

There’s nothing much to do around. Nice food at the local dhaba at Ramgarh market. Not just the samosas. In fact the food kadhi pakoda, paneer, etc was better and really tasty. You can get a local taxi to go to Ramgarh, not really walking distance. Market is barely ten shops.

From Delhi airport its an 8 hour drive incl 30 min halt.

We visited this place in May 2017 with family.

Location – This place is around 8 hours drive from Delhi, 20 kms before Nainital.

Property – The property is huge, with cottages and rooms. Every room is different in its name, decor, furnishing, etc. It all depends on your preferences. Awesome hill views from the rooms.

The Website – Their website contains all the room details along with videos, making it easier to take your pick.

Food – The Buffet spread was limited. We had breakfast and dinner. We found the food to be bland. Also, certain dishes were not properly cooked. I suggest they should add more variety to their spread. The Chef was helpful in customizing the food for the kids.

Staff and Service – The staff was courteous and helpful. The service was OK, though usually delayed at dinner time.

Activities – The property has a garden where kids can play with a ball, etc. Also, they provide badminton rackets. They have a wide collection of books for avid readers and a huge collection of Movie DVD’s for movie lovers. Board games are available for kids.

Parking – They have a limited parking space, with a very steep incline at the main entry. Need to be careful there.

Overall, a pleasant and refreshing home stay in Himalayas.

This is a beautiful property with thoughtful attentive staff, great food and well appointed rooms – the one where I stayed had a brilliant view of the Himalayan ranges – the room was called The Master’s Touch. Stayed for 3 days – wish I could have stayed longer!
